Prevent a Fire - Recycle Your Christmas Tree
Many people enjoy their real Christmas trees well into the new year. But as those trees dry out, they become a very dangerous fire hazard.
When your tree is too dry, or you're ready to get rid of it, pleas don't throw it in the garbage.
The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is accepting once-live Holiday Trees, & electronics (including old holiday lights) during regular off-season hours at the Valparaiso Composting Site at 2150 West Lincolnway (SR-130). Collection will begin on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm starting January 9th.
